
Scott Bennett
Former Grimethorpe Colliery band’s solo horn Scot Bennett is the latest performance artist to endorse Mercer & Barker mouthpieces.
Scot, who started his playing career , aged twelve, with Barrow Colliery Junior Band, progressed to the senior band, before embarking on a successful career with bands including Black Dyke, Brighouse & Rastrick, and Leyland.
Winning various Brass in Concert contests , the British Open contest circa 1992 and again Brass in Concert in 2010 with Grimethorpe. He studied at Barnsley Music College under Major Peter Parkes, and was later to play under his baton at the then Williams Fairey Engineering Band.
Barnsley-based Scot said ‘I currently play a Mercer & Barker MB1A-SB mouthpiece which was developed with the team at M&B. I’m very pleased to become a performing artist with the company, and look forward to working with them on new developments and projects in the future’.
In 2020, Scot won best instrumentalist at the Yorkshire Area Championships.
