
Ollie Atherton
Ollie started playing at the age of 7 on cornet before moving to the euphonium.
When going to high school Ollie started to get lessons on trombone and joined the school brass band in year 9 taking the leap to bass trombone with mostly due to his teacher being a bass trombone player, doing this ensured enabled him to take part in more ensemble groups with the school.
Thanks to the Black Dyke Band Ollie was able to join the Black Dyke Youth Trombone Quarter, The experience gained through this enabled Ollie to join the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain where he completed six courses, four courses at which holding principal bass trombone seat.
Just before going to college Ollie had lessons with the renowned professional bass trombone player Mark Frost who helped hiom develop and hone his playing styles and skills more akin to the bass trombone.
After finishing his A-levels, Ollie studied bass trombone at the RNCM under the direction of Christian Jones and after completing two years at the RNCM he into the world of engineering.
His career has given him the oppertunity to play with many bands such as the Bolton Hoover band, Eccleston brass band, Wingates Brass Band, the world famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band before settling with his current band Milnrow in Rochdale.
