Marcus Rowbotham

Marcus Rowbotham is 18 years old and started playing brass at primary school influenced by Michael Dodd. His primary school promoted brass banding with bringing Michael in to do an assembly on brass Instruments. That was the day Marcus was hooked on playing brass. Marcus originally started playing on the baritone during weekly classes with Michael. One week Michael showed the class his euphonium and he asked Marcus if he wanted to have a try on his euphonium, this was his introduction to the euphonium, Just before he finishing at primary Michael entered the primary school band into the National Youth Championship Of Great Britain and was the featured soloist for the bands set.
It was that point where the championships used his picture during my solo and used it as the front page of the National Youth championships adverts. Marcus was given the opportunity to play with the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band at the local Emmanuel Church. From Primary to Secondary school. During his time at secondary school he was interviewed by the One Show about a promotion to the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band. Marcus started at the Barnsley Junior Band progressing through the ranks from Junior to Intermediate and after just 9 months in total playing in both the junior band was asked to join the Barnsley Metropolitan Brass Band at just 11.
Marcus Is currently the Solo Euphonium for the band and played a total of 7 years with the Met Band. Competing in numerous of area and national final competitions. Over the past 3 years the band have had 2 consecutive wins gaining promotion from 4th section to 2nd in just 3 years. tutors of Steven Mead and David Thornton. I'm currently playing on a Besson Prestige with a MB4G-JP and I am really impressed with the outcome of my range
