High Professor of Tuba by the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid (Spain)
PhD “Cum Laude” in Historical and Artistic Heritage from the Universities of Cordoba, Jaen, Huelva and Extremadura. Artist-Ambassador for Wessex Tubas. Instrumentalist-Teacher of Tuba and Ensemble Practice by the National School of Arts of Havana (Cuba). High Professor of Tuba by the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid (Spain). Degree in Lyric Singing (Baritone) and Master’s Degree in Heritage Management (Faculty of Philosophy and Letters-UCO).
He has made his professional/instrumental career in Cuba, Spain, Colombia, Principality of Monaco and Italy, where he has made recordings as a soloist and as part of groups for Radio, T.V. and various record labels. He has given Master Classes and Conferences in Conservatories and Universities in Europe and several latinoamerican countries.
He is a member of ITEA , UNEAC (Cuba) and AETYB (Spain). He has studied “Active Musical Pedagogy” at the Fédération Internationale Willems in Lyon, France and “Cultural Management: Music, Theatre and Dance” at the Complutense Institute of Musical Sciences (SGAE- Complutense University of Madrid).
He has written articles on the tuba and other subjects related to teaching, in specialized and musicological magazines. He is the author of the book “Tubas y yo vengo…”, This is the first book written about the tuba in Spanish. Since 2010 he has a multilingual didactic and research blog “inBBflat”, which is a regular reference for numerous teaching centers and performers both in Spain and other parts of the world, with more than 200,000 followers. He is currently Professor of Tuba, Orchestral Repertoire and Chamber Music at the CSM “Rafael Orozco” in Cordoba and tuba player of the OCC of Cordoba.
