Leyland Band BB Bass

I started playing Trombone when I was in year 4 in
primary school.

In year 6 I then started at Red Admiral Music Academy
under Danny Brooks. When Reds youth band entered the action medical youth
contest the band needed a bass player so i volunteered playing Eb Bass. We ended up winning, my first contest won. After the contest Danny let me try the BB
Bass. I played one note and he said “you have the job”.

A couple of years of concerts and the odd contest  went by and I joined the Lancashire Youth Brass Band when I was 16 to which I’m still apart of today as a young leader.
Then lockdown came I took part in zoom rehearsals and a few lockdown online
performances.

When we could start meeting up in groups of 6 Danny
invited me to the Elland Silver Band where I stayed for 3 good years
,absolutely loving it, they made me so welcome as i had gone from 4th section
banding straight to a championship section band but I was ready for the
challenge. We competed in several contests like the Yorkshire area, Bolsover
contest, Whit Friday march contest, the Scottish Open contest and more. I have
made some forever friends at Elland.

I was invited down to play with the Leyland Band 2 years ago now, and
I have been loving it ever since I joined. The band has opened even more
opportunities like playing at the North West Area, The British Open Contest.

This year we came 2nd at the North West Area Championships giving me my first opportunity to compete at my first National Championships of Great Britain at the Royal albert Hall.

I love banding I just couldn’t live without it!!!
