Peter Abeyawardene joins as Young Ambassador
Mercer & Barker are please to announce that Peter Abeyawardene has joined the family and become a Young Ambassador, Peter is a fabulous young Flugel Player currently at the Tewit Silver and Youth Band. please see his profile below:

Starting on the trumpet at age 7, Peter Abeyawardene was first introduced to brass banding when he joined the Tewit Youth Senior Band when he was 13 years old. After six months, musical director Martin Hall offered him a seat on the back row of the Tewit Silver Band, who during Peter’s time with the band have won two National Titles (4th and 3rd section) and have claimed eight other contest victories. Now moving into the 1st Section, he is looking forward to competing at the upcoming Area contest as a front row cornet player.
In 2022, Peter successfully auditioned for the Flugelhorn seat in the Tewit Youth Band. He quickly fell in love with the instrument’s soft and mellow sound and continues to hold this seat. Peter plays on a Mercer and Barker MB4-F and loves the mellow tone and effortless response that it provides.
