Paul Richards hits the high notes

Mercer & Barker soprano artiste Paul Richard’s is currently flying high off the back of the Flowers Bands fabulous run of outstanding performances, gaining a second place at this year’s British Open and taking the top prize at the National Brassband Championship finals at the Albert Hall.
Paul has worked with M& B over the past 12 months helping develop a range of fabulous soprano cornet mouthpieces that are fast becoming market leaders. The MB1-PR is Paul’s signature mouthpiece with the MB1-PR “Sonic” as a newly developed addition to hit those super high notes when required but with the same feel, cup diameter and rim size that doesn’t compromise sound or feel if you need to swap out to a more shallow mouthpiece with a tighter throat to go “Sonic”.
Paul is currently using the PR range of sop mouthpieces made from Bronze and silver plated, Paul really does love the feel and sound these Bronze mouthpieces produce. This venture into working with new materials shows that Mercer & Barker are serious players in the mouthpiece market and the only UK manufacturers using Bronze as an alternative material to Brass.
