Dave Lockwood Bass Trombone

David grew up in the Medway Towns in the South East of England. He was born into a musical family with both his father and mother playing trombone, so it was only natural that he and his brother Jonathan would follow in their footsteps.
David has been in the Royal Corps of Army Music for over 24 years. He joined in February 1999 and started in the Band of the Welsh Guards where his father was serving. After a year with his father, he moved into his father's seat where he stayed for fourteen years.
Over the years David has been a member of The Household Troops Band of the Salvation Army and also proudly a member of The International Staff Band of the Salvation Army. Plus supported other Brass Bands all around Kent.
He currently serves as Principal Bass Trombone of the Band of the Irish Guards and has performed all over world on different events. David had the honour in performing at the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as part of the Fanfare Team At Westminster Abbey.
David says “over the years I have performed on a certain mouthpiece over the years , but when Mercer & Barker brought out “The Beast”, this was a game changer for me. This mouthpiece is so comfortable, gives me the support I need on all ranges of my trombone playing. Plus gives me that extra punch whilst marching to Buckingham Palace. I’m lucky to play other various instruments like Tuba and sometimes Tenor Trombone on function bands, so I’m keen to see what a difference the other mouth pieces Mercer & Barker has to offer. There’s only one mouthpiece for me and I thanks Mercer & Barker for all their support.”
