
Aileen Orr Joins as M&B Young Ambassador

At Mercer & Barker we pride ourselves on working with the young brass stars of the future, Aileen Orr Hails from South Lanarkshire and is a wonderfully talented bass trombone player who is already hitting all the "Low Notes" with some wonderful bands, orchestras and brass bands.

Aileen Orr
Bass Trombone
Aileen is a 2nd year bass trombone player currently studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
Her musical journey began on tenor trombone in the South Lanarkshire instrumental music service ???????
She soon started lessons with Charlie Farren through the Whitburn Band organisation transitioning to bass trombone in 2019. Alongside brass banding, Aileen studied on the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Juniors course before moving to Cardiff in 2022 to begin her studies at RWCMD.
After a short time at City of Cardiff (M1), Aileen joined the Tongwynlais Temperance Band and is looking forward to playing with them at the National Finals in the Royal Albert Hall this October!
Aileen has been a member of the National Youth Brass Bands of Scotland for 8 years and is currently the principal bass trombone player.
Some recent highlights for Aileen include a side-by-side session with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and most recently she travelled to Vietnam as a member of the World Youth Orchestra.
Aileen currently plays on a MB1.5BT mouthpiece in Stainless Steel.
