Carl Mercer

I began playing the tuba with the Salvation Army band at the age of 11, in my teens I left the SA but continued to play Tuba with local bands such as Warburtons and Longridge Band.
During my mid 20’s me and my wife Ann had the first of our 3 children, finding it difficult to balance family life, work and banding I decided to take a break which lasted 20+ years by which time my family had grown up.
Now working for myself I found I had more time to return to my love of banding and playing the Tuba. I found a new passion and drive for the tuba and brass instruments in general and started to dabble in refurbishing and selling tubas as a hobby which soon progressed into a successful business called Brass Sounds supplying new and used instruments to bands and individuals both in the UK and Internationally.
Brass Sounds now has a global reputation for supplying quality instruments and therefore the natural progression was to Join forces with fellow Tubist and good friend George Barker to manufacture and supply High Quality Mouthpieces and enhance my portfolio.
